A Green Villa
Lamai Sarai has its own deep-well water supply and solar power system. In some conditions it can run 100% off grid, which also means uninterrupted power during the island’s occasional power outages. It is also wired up to the island grid if needs be.
The pool uses an environmentally friendly treatment process that avoids adding chlorine chemicals.
We have an extensive rain-water harvesting system to supplement the villa’s various water management systems.
Waste food is composted for the Villa’s kitchen garden.
In the kitchen garden we grow fresh vegetables and herbs, including our own fierce Thai chilli peppers, pungent Holy Basil and sublimely evocative lemon-grass.
Kanchit and Mod keep a fresh supply of eggs from their chickens, which run free-range in the Jungle Garden between the Villa and the mountain.
We are measuring Lamai Sarai’s sustainability credentials with the hope of going for a green-building award.
An accessible villa

From taxi drop-off point, access to all rooms except the library and two upper floor bedrooms, and the apartment suite, is via either the grand stairway or elevator. A ramp leads from the drop-off to the first stop of the elevator, making it welcoming for a guest relying on a wheelchair or with other mobility needs. One of the two pool-side bedrooms and bathrooms can be equipped for a guest with special mobility needs if required. From here you will have level access to pool-side, sun-beds, dining-breakfast room, Chinese tea pavillion and an exotic outdoor shower next to a giant granite rock-face in the butterfly garden. Down a floor by elevator is level access to the gym and the ‘White-room’. Please let us have any specific mobility needs in advance and we will see if we can help.
